The two are later found and recruited into XOF by Skull Face, with Skull Face usurping Volgin's control over Mantis's abilities. Mantis would later follow alongside Volgin as the latter continued to chase Venom Snake until rainfall would prevent Volgin from continuing his pursuit. As XOF forces arrived in the premises, Mantis would find himself combating and killing most of them, while being interchangeably influenced by both Volgin and Venom Snake. From the flames emerged the "Man on Fire", which advanced towards the duo until the emergency sprinklers activated, forcing Volgin to retreat. Having recently awakened from a coma, Venom Snake was being escorted to safety by Ishmael when they briefly encountered Mantis in front of an elevator, shortly before it exploded. Mantis and Volgin would find themselves traveling to Cyprus when XOF attempted to kill Venom Snake. "Tretij Rebenok" confronts Ishmael and Venom Snake. Volgin's hatred influenced Mantis, causing his body to reanimate as the "Man on Fire." The two burned the entire facility down as their rampage began. Mantis could sense the anger and resentment Volgin held for Big Boss, as the two were gradually awakening. It was there that the comatose body of Yevgeny Borisovitch Volgin was also being held. Being the only survivor, Mantis was recovered and sent to the lab, which focused on researching paranormal abilities in individuals, and given the codename "Tretij Rebenok". The plane's flight path took it near a hospital containing Big Boss and the comatose Venom Snake, whose hateful subconscious influenced Mantis's uncontrollable power, causing the plane to explode and crash. During this time, he wore a gas mask to help prevent the thoughts and emotions of others from entering his mind. On February 26, 1984, Mantis was transported to a Moscow research lab from Czechoslovakia via a plane. Its their time to shine more than ever.Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Reviewġ3 June 2008 Phantom Pain Incident See also: Hospital Escape and Phantom Pain Incident Its time to let Big boss, Solid snake and Liquid snake flurish and bloom. Raiden can be in the game its possible, but I really don't think we should see him in there. I don't think we have time to throw raiden in that plot, specialy that his life story is really just interesting durring big shell incident and beyond.Īnd also, why on earth would big boss fight raiden.I think seeing Liquid fight his father would be WAY more captivating to the player than raiden.Raidens father son moment was with solidus,(solidus being a father figure, not biological). also, the story will be extremely focused on Big Boss turning over to the dark side, into a monster. I think throwing raiden in there would be a bad idea sales wize lol. Mabe as a background character or something like that. Remember how many people where pissed off when he made his first apearence? something tells me that kojima is not stupid enough to throw raiden in this again. at the age of 10 somewhere between 19, leaving out just about any possibility of Big Boss meeting him at that age as by then he was already training Solid Snake and leading Foxhound. This is narrowed to 1983-1986, if one also assumes the war was the first that he participated in as a child soldier, having held his first AK rifle at age six.Īgain, Eli looks to be about 12 to 16, which would make him at least 2 to 6 years older then Raiden when he was Captain of the Small Boy Unit. Given Solidus Snake's comments, it can be inferred that Raiden became the Small Boy Unit captain at age 10 during the First Liberian Civil War (1989-1996), giving a range of 1979-1986 for the year of his birth. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Konami Computer Entertainment Japan (2001). Well I never said it was specifically written as such, what I said is that, so far we know, he is born as Jack.Īnd yes, I missed the part out that Solidus taught him that blades are "noble weapons" (something I agree with) though it's not why he's called Jack the Ripper, that was because of his unusually high kill rate compared to the other kids.Īnd the appearance thing is.possible, unlikely but possible, though you still have the age factor to consider the age factor which is better explained in the references of his page More so because every single hint about him seems to poke on the possibility of him being Liquid. While it is true that Kojima has been misleading before, I don't think that is the case here really. Traveling around the world in a year isn't that hard to do really, also we have only seen the Middle East and Africa so far, that's not too far away from each other, and certaintly not around the world.
